“Miranda is genuinely about empowering people: making sure their work is seen and has an impact”

It sounds cheesy but...

Julia Stamm is right. I want to help.

I’m in awe of anyone who turns a germ of an idea into a living breathing business. And I love working 1-2-1 with founders, prompting them to tell the stories that do justice to their creativity, energy and sense of purpose. But what I really want is to help them, and their teams, to unearth these stories for themselves.

So, whether you’re a solopreneur doing your own communications, or a marketer working in an established business, I hope The Richest Conversations will give you the chance to do that:

I've clocked up many hours

I started young.

My listening skills grew as my dad, a print journalist for the Sunday Telegraph, came home with new stories, day after day.

As an introvert, I was more comfortable ‘receiving’ than ‘transmitting’, happily asking open questions to keep attention away from myself.

Perhaps it was inevitable that I grew a business by enabling others to find their voice.

And so, The Richest Conversations was born.

Miranda’s approach – talking to clients – gives us more human language. We’ve been doing this stuff for years. We tend to lose the real benefit of it because we get too involved and use too many buzz words. And they don’t have currency, do they? They’re just cliches which don’t bring home the benefit of what we do. I’ve worked in advertising and marketing agencies, with planners who look at propositions and develop things for you. I don’t think I’ve seen work from ad agencies that is as insightful as what Miranda is doing – genuinely. The quality of the language, the whole thing, it’s great.

The difference between a pedestrian, sterile interview and one with wow factor, can just be a matter of timing or a very small phrase. And Miranda is really good at drawing from the interviewees those emotional hooks: little phrases that take the interview from being a cool delivery of facts, to something that really plucks at the heartstrings. The other thing is Miranda knows how to splice, re-splice and repurpose. We only had a small amount of video, but she cut it in so many ways, with so many different messages, it’s given us a huge amount for very little investment.
